My Camera Bag

A lot of people ask me what I have in my bag(s). Keep in mind that I’ve been a professional photographer for many years, long before I became a mom, so unless you plan on photographing weddings professionally, there’s no need to have quite the variety of glass that I do. In fact, as I cut back in the number of weddings I do, I’ve been gradually selling off my lenses, too. Less to carry & fewer to choose from = happier, more successful, me.

First off, I shoot Canon. I won’t enter the debate of Canon vs Nikon cause as you’ve probably learned by now, people feel very passionate about this and well, I don’t. They’re both damn good and arguing is silly. So if you can get a Nikon for super cheap, go for it and feel no need to explain yourself to me. I honestly don’t care. I started with Canon so here I am.

I’m still selling lenses. Next up for sale will be one of the 24-70′s, one of the 70-200′s, and the 5D original body. Hopefully some time soon. I have my eye on a 5D III at some point…..

Lenses

Digital Bodies

  • 5D Mark II
  • 5D Mark II (yes a second one)
  • 5D Original
  • 40D

Flashes

  • (4) 580EXII
  • (3) 430EXII

Other

  • Several light stands
  • A couple of tripods
  • 7 Manual Flash Triggers
  • Lots of diffusers, umbrellas, softboxes, reflectors, and other light modifiers
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Lots of extra batteries (and grips for each camera)

My two favorite bags that I use the most are my Kelly Moore Hobo and my Think Tank Airport International roller case.

(* my absolute favorites!)

Just starting out in Photography? I’d suggest picking up a full-frame body and two prime lenses, the 35mm and the 85mm. (If you have a crop-frame body such as the Rebel, consider the 24mm. Either way the 50mm is pretty awesome, too.) I’ll devote a blog post to this at some point. In fact I’ll probably devote a blog post to each and every one of these lenses. There are a whopping 365 days in the year, you know.;)
